Don't sacrifice quality for cheaper alternatives. These medical-grade masks are premium quality and fluid repellent, keeping you safe from germs entering through the mouth or nose. These masks have three layers with different materials to conform to the standards to qualify as a Type II R Mask (EN14683) certification. The strong ultrasonic bonded edge gives greater durability and protection.

Available in counter-top ready packs containing 50 masks for a competitive price. Beware of cheaper masks with no certifications that may not be suitable for PPE.

What does Type IIR mean?

Type IIR face masks include a splash-resistant layer to protect against blood and other bodily fluids. Type IIR masks are tested in the direction of exhalation (inside to outside) and take into account the efficiency of bacterial filtration.

Features

  1. Face mask with nose wire - Nasal comfort strip moulds over your nose
  2. Strong ultrasonic bonded edge for greater durability
  3. Elastic earloops hold the mask securely in place
  4. Outer white hydrophobic PP layer
  5. Filter layer
  6. Inner white hydrophilic layer

Superior 3 layer protection - Face masks with filters

Outer layer made from hydrophobic material: prevents airborne particles/ droplets from passing through it.

The middle layer acts as an additional filter and protective layer for your peace of mind.

Inner layer made from a hydrophilic material. Allows moisture as you breathe to pass through to the middle layer and reduces condensation build-up. Prevents material from becoming damp.

Type IIR face masks have a Bacterial Filtration Efficiency (BFE) of 98%

How to wear a face mask for the best protection

A face covering should:

  • Cover your nose and mouth while allowing you to breathe comfortably
  • Be secured to the head with ties or ear loops
  • Ideally include at least two layers of fabric (the World Health Organisation recommends three depending on the fabric used)

When wearing a face covering you should:

  • Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water for 20 seconds or use hand sanitiser before putting a face covering on
  • Avoid wearing on your neck or forehead
  • Avoid touching the part of the face-covering in contact with your mouth and nose, as it could be contaminated with the virus
  • Change the face-covering if it becomes damp or if you've touched it
  • Avoid taking it off and putting it back on in quick succession (for example, when leaving and entering shops)

When removing a face covering

  • Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water for 20 seconds or use hand sanitiser before removing
  • Only handle the straps, ties, or clips
  • Do not give it to someone else to use
  • If it is single-use, dispose of it carefully in a residual waste bin and do not recycle
  • If reusable, wash it in line with the manufacturer's instructions at the highest temperature appropriate for the fabric
  • Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water for 20 seconds or use hand sanitiser once removed

What are the different types of face masks?

A face mask is something which safely covers the nose and mouth. Face coverings are not technically classified as PPE, as they are largely intended to protect others, not the wearer, against the spread of infection. This is because they cover the nose and mouth, which are the main sources of virus transmission.

These are the range of different types of face masks and what they are designed for:

Surgical (medical) face masks

These are mainly intended for health care staff to wear to protect patients during surgical procedures and other medical settings. If a face mask is intended to protect the patient, they are Class I medical devices.

Face masks intended to protect the wearer (PPE)

If your masks are intended to protect the wearer, they are regulated as personal protective equipment and need to meet the regulations covering PPE products. They are not medical devices.

Face coverings

Face coverings are intended for use by the general public, these are not medical devices and technically not PPE.
