When you are preparing today’s students to become tomorrow’s nurses, Wolters Kluwer knows that you need a Transcultural Nursing textbook that you can trust. Wolters Kluwer has a history of publishing quality and reliable cultural information. We are partners with the Transcultural Nursing Society, the leading organization dedicated to advancing the cultural competence of nurses founded by Dr. Madeleine M. Leininger. Our interactive modules and instructor resources are AJN-award winning . Our lead authors, Margaret M. Andrews and Joyceen S. Boyle, are Certified Transcultural Nurses and are former presidents of the transcultural nursing society. Dr. Andrews, our lead author, previously published and was a mentee of Dr. Leininger herself. John W. Collins PhDc, a coauthor new to this edition, actively speaks and publishes about cultural issues related to nursing. Transcultural Concepts in Nursing Care, 8th Edition is written by authors, and reviewed by editors, who want to see all persons reach their highest attainable health while being cared for by nurses who provide culturally competent and congruent care.

Transcultural Concepts in Nursing Care, 8th Edition is a comprehensive text that provides nurses with the theoretical foundations for transcultural nursing. Authors Margaret M. Andrews, Joyceen S. Boyle, and John W. Collins feature transcultural theories, models, and research studies. Using this text, students develop competence in how to complete cultural assessments. They learn to systematically apply transcultural concepts across the life span. The authors emphasize the need for effective and efficient communication, client- and patient-centered teamwork, and collaboration among members of the interprofessional health care team in their TIPS model. This approach is special because it allows students to care for individuals, groups, and communities from any and all cultural groups they might encounter in their professional careers. This approach is far more effective and more appropriate than having students read about the esoteric beliefs and practices associated with a litany of different groups. We believe that it is tremendously important to recognize the myriad of health-related beliefs and practices that exist across the population categories.

The 8th Edition will be updated to reflect the changing health care delivery system, new research studies, and theoretical advances, but will also continue to offer features valued by loyal adopters across the United States and abroad. Chapter objectives and key terms help readers understand the purpose of the content and desired learning experience of students who engage with it. Evidence-Based Practice boxes present the latest research affiliated with each chapter’s topic at hand. Each box describes clinical implications of the research. Case Studies, based on the authors’ actual clinical experiences and research findings, are presented to make conceptual linkages and to illustrate how concepts are applied in health care settings. Case studies allow the reader to begin to develop cultural competence with selected cultures.

The 8th Edition will have a revised Table of Contents. “Cultural Competence in Ethical Decision Making” will make its way back into our print book as a dedicate chapter. It will feature a Case Study on Nurse Alex Wubbels, who is a nurse in Utah who was forcibly arrested in 2017 by police when she refused to draw blood from an unconscious patient. This chapter will also feature timely coverage of Elder Care Abuse in Nursing Homes, Human Trafficking, and Social Justice.

Baseline knowledge of cultural nursing theory combined with cultural assessment skills and critical thinking ability are the necessary knowledge and skills on which nurses should base transcultural nursing care. Students will obtain didactic knowledge through reading textbook chapters as well as a collated journal article collection corresponding to book chapters from current research available in Wolters Kluwer and Open Access journals. Students will confirm they mastered the requisite transcultural theory knowledge by self-testing with the Student Review Question Bank provided on thePoint. The 8th Edition will bolster students’ critical thinking skills through review questions in each chapter as well as learning activities in each chapter.

Accompanying your textbook are book-specific instructor resources. Test Questions that are scenario-based and short answer can help you assess your students’ understanding of the course material. PowerPoint Presentations provide an easy way for you to integrate the textbook with your students’ classroom experience, either via slide shows or handouts. Activities, discussion topics, and case studies will help engage students.

When you buy this book from the Physio Shop you are in fact dealing directly with one of the world's largest medical publishers, Wolters Kluver Health (WKH). WKH is the parent of companies including Lippincott, Williams and Wilkins and the Anatomical Chart Company.

We also try to deliver to you anywhere in the world. Just register and login to the shop to see the shipping price to your destination. These costs are heavily subsidised by the publishers. Unfortunately we are restricted to non-USA based sales.

We work directly with WKH and their distribution channel in the UK, NBN International, to deliver your items. This means there is no middle-man to slow up your delivery. If it is in print/stock and is in their warehouse then they'll get it out to you asap. Your orders are sent directly to the warehouse and are actioned usually within 48hrs during the working week. Sometimes charts and models are on regular re-stocking due to popularity and are replenished on a regular basis.

If any one item in your purchase is delayed NBN will send you what they have in stock and will send on the remainder as soon as it arrives. This is at no additional shipping cost to you. Shipping and delivery are however two different things. We ship as soon as we can. The mail man and delivery services mean orders can take anything from 48hrs to 3 weeks to arrive depending where in the world you are.

We currently maintain a flat fee structure for shipping of products from WKH. So purchase as many books as you like the we will still charge you the one low shipping fee. Perhaps club together with friends if you are after the same title to save even more on shipping!

All orders are actioned from the UK warehouse. The UK & Europe can therefore expect more speedy deliveries than those further afield. Rest assured we'll get it to you as fast as the mailing systems allow. If you need to chase up a book/chart/model delivery we can provide tracking for you.
