DVD Home Exercises and movement advice for people with Parkinson's Disease #16446
This DVD, first of its kind and unique in content, design and cinematic quality, is designed to address the specific debilitating mobility problems in the daily lives of Parkinson patients, and is developed using international evidence-based guidelines for rehabilitation.
The DVD is meant for patients with Parkinson’s Disease as a source of advice and instructions for daily exercises and movements and is sold under auspices of the World Federation for Neurology (WFN) Research Group for Parkinsonism and Related Disorders, chaired by Prof. E.Ch. Wolters.
On the DVD there are more than 55 exercises and instructions which are very useful for healthcare professionals such as physical therapists and occupational therapists as instruction material in the treatment of their patients.
The DVD is very useful for therapists and other healthcare professionals in helping patients to maintain or improve mobility in daily life. Specific attention to cueing strategies is given.
On the DVD, a 90 page PDF instruction booklet is available, with photo's and additional written explanations, advice and instructions for each exercise, that can be printed.
The DVD has a problem-drive menu structure, so patients and therapists can choose which category exercises and instruction they want to address.
The advice and exercises have been divided into a number of functional domains that can cause problems in the daily life of Parkinson’s patients. Both scientific research and practical experience are making it increasingly clear that specific exercises and advice can support/provide for improvements in the following domains:
* Walking
* Posture
* Standing up and sitting down
* Bed mobility
* Balance
* Flexibility
* Physical condition
* Relaxation
First, the possible problems that can arise for each domain are listed first, for example difficulty with walking, and then the cause of the problem is described. After that, specific advice and exercises are described that can be performed every day in order to improve the existing problem(s). In this way, each patient can choose the specific advice and exercises that are the most applicable for his/her individual situation.
Patients and therapists all over Europe and the rest of the world are already using the DVD.
All revenue from sales will benefit Parkinson Research and Healthcare innovation projects from the European Foundation for Health and Exercise (www.efox.nl). Look at www.parkinsondvd.com for a demo.
