Customer Reviews

Author: Physiobob
"This is a good product with easy navigation and a useful glossary on each disk. It will be very useful for medical students, either studying alone, or when used in lectures" 2004 BMA Book Competition Reviewer

"This series does not, nor is it intended to, replace anatomical textbooks, but it is a valuable aid for the three-dimensional visualisation that is so critical in understanding this subject" - Stuart Waterston, Surgeons News July 2004

Author: Physiobob
Dr. Robert Acland is a professor in the Department of Surgery at the University of Louisville School of Medicine. He gained his expertise in instructional video during his first career, as a pioneer and teacher of microsurgical techniques. In his second career as a clinical anatomist, Dr. Acland directs his school's renowned Fresh Tissue Dissection Laboratory, where he teaches anatomy to surgeons and pursues anatomical research. Working with fresh, unembalmed cadavers, Dr. Acland has pioneered new and highly effective techniques of anatomical videography that give the viewer a clear three-dimensional understanding of spatial relationships.

Remarkable and beautifully produced, Acland's DVD Atlas of Human Anatomy explores the fundamental structures of the Musculoskeletal System, the Head and Neck, and the Internal Organs. Also available in VHS, the videos show true images of real, exquisitely dissected human anatomical specimens in 3D. A concise synchronized narration runs throughout the program, and a self-testing feature appears at the end of each section.

For students, these DVDs are a time-saving aid to first-time learning, an effective way to relearn anatomy for clinical rotations, and a time-efficient tool for review. For teachers, the atlas shortens the time needed to provide immediate, satisfying explanations of three-dimensional structure. View sample clips of the DVDs.

Dr. Acland also authors Acland's Cross-Sectional Navigator, which features over 1,350 high-resolution images from the Visible Male project, allowing students to see cross-sectional anatomy as never before.

General Information

When you buy this book from the Physio Shop you are in fact dealing directly with one of the world's largest medical publishers, Wolters Kluver Health (WKH). WKH is the parent of companies including Lippincott, Williams and Wilkins and the Anatomical Chart Company.

We also try to deliver to you anywhere in the world. Just register and login to the shop to see the shipping price to your destination. These costs are heavily subsidized by the publishers. Unfortunately we are restricted to non-USA sales.

We work directly with WKH and their distribution channel in the UK, NBN International, to deliver your items. This means there is no middle-man to slow up your delivery. If it is in print/stock and is in their warehouse then they'll get it out to you asap. Your orders are sent directly to the warehouse and are actioned usually within 48hrs during the working week. Sometimes charts and models are on regular re-stocking due to popularity however this is replenished on a weekly basis.

If any one item in your purchase is delayed NBN will typically send you what they have in stock and will send on the remainder as soon as it arrives. This is at no additional shipping costs to you. Sending and arriving are however two different things. We send as soon as we can. The mail man and delivery services mean orders can take anything from 48hrs to 3 weeks to arrive depending where in the world you are.

Even better, we currently maintain a flat fee structure for shipping of products from WKH. Buy as many books as you like the we will still charge you the one shipping fee. Perhaps club together with friends if you are after the same title to save even more on shipping!

All orders are actioned from the UK. The UK and Europe can therefore expect more speedy deliveries than those further afield. Rest assured we'll get it to you as fast as the mailing systems allow.

You are also provided with a direct email and phone link on your order invoice that will link you with the person/s responsible for your delivery should you have any queries after purchase.

Many thanks for choosing the Physio Shop and happy reading!
